Krista is a level 2 Authorized Ashtanga teacher and founder of The Yoga Shala in Orlando, Florida where she teaches traditional Ashtanga yoga classes in the Mysore method. Since 2003, Krista has made ten trips to Mysore, India to practice with her teachers, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Jois at the KPJAY Institute.
Ashtanga Yoga has given Krista health and wellness, comfort, stability, peace, mindfulness and an outlet to work on herself and help others. For the last fourteen years Krista has rolled her mat out each day because it is such an intrinsic part of who she is. With over eight years of success owning and growing a business and fourteen years as a dedicated student and practitioner of Ashtanga Yoga, Krista currently leads workhops and retreats around the globe and teaches daily at her studio in Orlando. Krista’s dedication to her personal yoga practice and the Ashtanga lineage shine through in her teaching. Her energy is contagious and inspiring because she lives this yoga daily and experiences tremendous fulfillment in helping people find and deepen their growth in this practice.

“Mysore style” is traditionally practiced silently, with individual instruction, and is named after Mysore, India, where Ashtanga yoga originated and was taught by Sri K Pattabhi Jois for many years. Anyone is welcome to come to this class. Students will work at their own pace, according to his or her individual needs, while Krista walks around the room providing hands on adjustments and verbal instruction as needed. If you do not have the primary series memorized, you will spend your first few weeks in class repeating bits of the standing sequence until it is committed to memory. Mysore style is the absolute best way to learn and practice Yoga. It enables you to create a dedicated, daily practice that will take you infinitely deeper into the peace and calm a quiet mind and strong body can provide

Meditation is one of Krista’s passions and something she loves to share with students from all yogic traditions. Come sit with Krista and learn some of her favorite meditation techniques, tips and tools to start, cultivate, or deepen your seated practice. Krista will teach you several different meditations, lecture on some of the benefits to creating a seated practice, provide viable tips to help you start and maintain a seated practice and inspire you to make the time in your busy schedule. She will also devote time to answer questions. 2 hours
Opposition of Force, Part 1: Standing Sequence

Hands down one of the most valuable workshops you will ever attend! Every balance has a counter balance, every push has a pull, every extension a flexion. The Ashtanga Yoga practice is a full syllabus of opposing forces. Using the Ashtanga standing sequence postures we will break down each posture in order to see, feel, understand and apply the concept of opposition of force. A very physically challenging session, be prepared to break a sweat, shake, squirm and learn! Suitable for all levels but be prepared to work! 2 hours.
