The Foundations of Primary Series is designed to enhance your Ashtanga Yoga practice. Over four weeks, this series will instruct you on proper breathing techniques, the placement of your gaze (drishti), transitions between poses, and the structure of the sequence.
Each week, the series will build progressively:
Week 1: Breath, bandhas, sun salutations, overview of the Primary Series, and standing poses
Week 2: Review Week 1 + first half of the seated postures + closing sequence
Week 3: Review Week 2 + second half of the seated postures, focusing on forward folds and hip opening
Week 4: Review Week 3 + continued seated postures, working on binds, strength, and transitions up to Navasana
Tailored for beginners, all Ashtanga practitioners will benefit from the comprehensive study of the Primary Series. Some prior yoga experience is suggested.
